Update(21 มิ.ย.54) :Update ภาพใหม่ตามที่ Mike Breen ให้สัมภาษณ์ สิ้นเดือน-ต้นเดือนนี้คงได้เห็นภาพตัวจริงแล้วครับ ก่อนกำหนดการเปิดตัวกลางเดือนกรกฎาคม จากเดิมที่กำหนดไว้วันที่ 1 กรกฎาคมในเมืองไทย แต่เพิ่งมีการเลื่อนกำหนดการตามที่เราได้รับแจ้งมาครับ
ภาพที่เห็นอยู่นี้คือ ภาพแรกและภาพเดียวในขณะนี้ของ Toyota Hilux Vigo รุ่นไมเนอร์เชนจ์ปี 2012 ที่หลุดออกมาทางอินเตอร์เน็ตก่อนที่จะมีการเปิดตัวเป็นครั้งแรกในโลกที่งาน 2011 Australian International Motor Show ซึ่งจะเริ่มขึ้นในวันที่ 1 กรกฎาคมที่จะถึงนี้ และจากการเปิดเผยของ Mike Breen เจ้าหน้าที่ของ Toyota Australia ว่าบริษัทฯจะเริ่มจำหน่ายกระบะยอดนิยมรุ่นนี้ในอีก 2-3 เดือนหลังจากการเปิดตัว นั่นหมายความว่า ชาวออสเตรเลียจะได้สัมผัสและใช้งาน All-New Hilux Vigo 2012 รุ่นใหม่ในเดือนตุลาคมปีนี้ เป็นอย่างช้า
โดยเจ้าหน้าที่ของ Toyota คนดังกล่าวยังเพิ่มเติมอีกว่า ภาพที่เห็นเป็นภาพที่ใกล้เคียง Hilux Vigo เวอร์ชั่นไทย ซึ่งรุ่น production ไม่น่าจะมีอะไรต่างไปจากนี้ จากภาพความแตกต่างจากโฉมก่อนก็คือ แผงกระจังหน้าที่มาพร้อมบาร์ 3 แถบ และไฟคู่หน้าขนาดใหญ่ คล้ายกับ LandCruiser 200 Series นั่นทำให้เรานึกภาพด้านหน้าของ Fortuner รุ่นปี 2012 ด้วยเช่นกัน
Mike Breen ได้ยืนยันอีกว่า Hilux Vigo รุ่นปี 2012 จะไม่มีอะไรเปลี่ยนแปลงไปจากเดิมมากนักในเรื่องของเครื่องยนต์และระบบส่งกำลัง โดยจะมี 3 รุ่นเครื่องยนต์ทางเลือก(สำหรับลูกค้าในออสเตรเลีย) คือ เครื่องยนต์เบนซิน 4 สูบ 2.7 ลิตร 156 แรงม้า แรงบิดสูงสุด 240 นิวตันเมตร เครื่องยนต์ดีเซล 4 สูบ 3.0 ลิตร 169 แรงม้า แรงบิดสูงสุด 343 นิวตันเมตร และเครื่องยนต์เบนซิน V6 4.0 ลิตร 235 แรงม้า แรงบิดสูงสุด 376 นิวตันเมตร
มองไกลไปอีกนิด สำหรับ All-New Hilux Vigo มีการคาดการณ์กันว่า จะมาพร้อมระบบ Electronic Stability Control (ESC) ที่จะกลายเป็นอุปกรณ์มาตรฐาน เพื่อให้เหมือนกับ Volkswagen Amarok ซึ่งเป็นรายแรกที่มีฟังค์ชั่นนี้ใน Amarok ที่ออสเตรเลีย แม้ว่าจะไม่มีการยืนยันจากทาง Toyota ก็ตาม
ในประเทศออสเตรเลีย Toyota Hilux ถือว่าเป็นรถยอดนิยมอันดับ 3 ในบรรดาตลาดรถยนต์โดยรวมทั้งหมด ตามหลัง Holden Commodore และ Mazda3
